40 Sculling Shells, Building Lost to Boathouse Fire in Cleveland
06 Dec 2005 by Kelly Blazek

The only sculling shells left in Cleveland’s WRRA fleet are two singles and four doubles that happened to be at masters nationals with our adult rowers from Western Reserve Rowing Association. Additionally, St. Ignatius stored its two singles and a double in the steel boathouse - they are OK. Four single scullers from Cleveland had bids accepted at the Head of the Charles; three of them lost their shells in the blaze. The entire fleet of sweep boats stored in a nearby steel boathouse are fine. Poor beautiful boats!

Thank you to Andrew Ratcliff for these photos of the fire.
