Summer Rowing Camps for HS Students

Wildcat Navy Camps: Head Coach Aaron Marcovy, of the 2008 winning University of Oxford crew from the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race, will lead students in rowing technique, nutrition, fitness conditioning, team building - and fun. Dates: June 16 - 20 High Performance/Experienced Camp; July 7 - 11 Introductory Camp; July 21 - 25 High Performance/Experienced Camp. Fee is $225 per athlete; camp hours are 8 am to 3 pm daily. CSRA Summer Juniors Camp: for novices or experienced rowers, with two sessions: June 17 through June 26 on Tues-Wed-Thursdays from 9 to Noon, $125; and then July 8 through July 31 also Tues-Wed-Thursdays from 9 to Noon, $250. Level I and II Coaching Clinics in January

January 5-6 2008 Level II Coaching Clinic at the Cleveland Rowing Foundation Boathouse 9 to 5 Saturday, 9 to noon or 1 on Sunday. Cost: $150 for level II, includes manual and test on site, limited to 20 participants per clinic.
January 19-20 2008 Level I Coaching Clinic at the Cleveland Rowing Foundation Boathouse 9 to 5 Saturday, 9 to noon or 1 on Sunday. Cost: $125 for level I, includes manual and test on site.

Updated SQL Exams Now Available!

The SQL exams (1 & 2) have been updated to reflect the recent changes made to the 2007 Safety and Operations Manual. Additional changes are outlined below.
SQL-1 Exam This 50-question, closed book exam is designed to measure the level of understanding of the SOM by an SQL-0 interested in taking on the roles and responsibilities of an SQL-1. This exam consists of multiple choice, fill-in, and short answer questions. Individuals interested in sitting for this exam should focus on the following areas:
- General - Safety Qualification (SQL-0, SQL-1 and SQL-2 Qualified Activities/Requirements ONLY) - Rowing Operations - Traffic Hazards on the River - Emergency Procedures - Incident Reports - Boathouse Operations - Security
A score of 75% or higher must be achieved on this exam in order to obtain an SQL-1 status.
SQL-2 Exam This 100-question, closed book exam is designed to measure the level of understanding of the SOM by a SQL-1 interested in taking on the roles and responsibilities of an SQL-2. This exam consists of fill-in and short answer questions. Individuals interested in sitting for this exam should focus on the following areas:

40 Sculling Shells, Building Lost to Boathouse Fire in Cleveland

The only sculling shells left in Cleveland’s WRRA fleet are two singles and four doubles that happened to be at masters nationals with our adult rowers from Western Reserve Rowing Association. Additionally, St. Ignatius stored its two singles and a double in the steel boathouse - they are OK. Four single scullers from Cleveland had bids accepted at the Head of the Charles; three of them lost their shells in the blaze. The entire fleet of sweep boats stored in a nearby steel boathouse are fine. Poor beautiful boats!
